Men's Genuine Leather Jackets, Handmade in Florence

Barone Firenze's men's jacket collection includes genuine leather models, made entirely by hand in the Tuscan workshop founded in 1993. Every piece goes through the stages of cutting, skiving, stitching and finishing before delivery. The range covers five leather types: suede, nubuck, nappa, oiled leather and Crust/Vintage, with the addition of vegetable-tanned models. Sizes run from S to 6XL.

Suede and Nubuck: the Velvety Hides

Suede is obtained from the inner side of the hide, with a silky finish. This category includes Ale Camoscio, also available unlined, in cognac and green, David Camoscio in taupe and dark cognac, Enrico Camoscio in blue, dark brown and tan, and Aldo Polo Camoscio. Nubuck shares the same origin but has a rougher look: the reference model is the Renga Nabuk, available in dark brown, black and in a two-tone tan-dark brown variant.

Nappa and Crust/Vintage: Smooth and Lived-In

Nappa is the smooth, glossy leather in the range. The Elton Gold Nappa model offers it in black and dark brown, in sizes S to 6XL. Crust/Vintage leather — in the Elton Gold Vintage, Massi Vintage (also available in blue and grey) and Francesco Sahariana Vintage models — is a non-uniform leather with a natural surface that develops its own patina with use.

Oiled Leather and Vegetable Tanning

Oiled leather, treated with oils and waxes, is the sturdiest in the range, and develops a more pronounced look with use. It's found on the Elton Gold Oleato, in black, dark brown and military green, on the Ale Oleato and on the Chiodo Oleato. Vegetable-tanned leather, on the Elton Gold Bike and the Ale Vegetale, offers a firmer leather with a patina different from oiled leather, one that improves aesthetically over time.

Chiodo, Biker Style and Asymmetric Zip

The Chiodo Uomo in black nappa leather features an asymmetric zip and inner lining. The Chiodo Matteo Bike brings the biker shape to lambskin. For those pairing the jacket with a backpack, the Bolgheri and the Brn-050 complete the look with the same artisan craftsmanship.

Safari Jacket, Aviator and Blazer

The Francesco Sahariana, in Vintage and Oleato versions, offers a shape with patch pockets. The Aviator Jacket, in black and dark brown, features a removable fur collar. The Raimondo Blazer, in black nappa leather, has a more formal fit.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between suede and nubuck?

Both come from the inner side of the hide and have a velvety finish, but suede is softer and more even, while nubuck is rougher and more pronounced. Suede covers the Ale, David, Enrico and Aldo Polo; nubuck is the material of the Renga.

How does oiled leather change with use?

Oiled leather develops a more characterful look with use, with natural creases that become more pronounced. This isn't wear and tear, but a patina that makes every piece different from the next.

Do the Elton Gold Bike and the Ale Vegetale use the same tanning?

Yes, both use vegetable tanning, which offers a firmer leather with a patina different from the oiled one.

Is the Michele model still available?

No, the Michele model is no longer in production. For a jacket in smooth nappa leather, the collection offers the Massi model.
